Enhancing Field Adjuster Productivity with Annotations and Site Photos

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a popular topic these days, and with good reason.  From smartwatches to connected coffee pots, there is an increasing network of sensors providing new and useful data to just about any industry you can name.  And here at Kespry, we believe roof inspections will be no exception to this trend. 

That is why we are looking ahead, envisioning a solution that will allow our users to take advantage of this wealth of data.  The Kespry Drone 2 system is a great tool for capturing visual imagery more quickly and safely than with a manual inspection alone.  But as the number and variety of connected sensors continues to grow, we know there will be many other sources of data that can complement our current system and provide inspectors with an even more complete picture of a property. 

Our vision for the future includes bringing together data from all of the tools and sensors used by our customers, including those that haven’t even been invented yet.  Imagine if an inspector could fly their industrial drone to collect roof imagery, pull out their camera to take pictures of the inside of a building, use a moisture sensor to scan for water damage, and add their own observations from the field.  Now imagine all of that data automatically uploading to the Kespry Cloud for analysis or inclusion in a comprehensive report.

Well imagine no more.  Today we are excited to announce two new features that will bring us one step closer to that vision for the future: Annotations and Mobile Photos.

Annotations:

After completing a flight, the high resolution photos are automatically transferred from the industrial drone to the iPad.  This allows the customer to quickly review the results of the inspection before they’ve even left the property.  But what if they see some damage in a photo that needs more follow up later?  Or perhaps there is a different person who will be reviewing the data once it is processed and available in Kespry Cloud? 

Now, users in the field can easily add annotations to any photo directly on the iPad.  These notes will automatically upload to Kespry Cloud for editing, collaboration, or inclusion in a Roof Report to share with colleagues or clients.  This will allow our customers to do even more with their data, using these insights to help turn data into decisions and action!


 

Mobile Imagery:

Industrial drones are a fantastic way to capture aerial imagery such as residential and commercial rooftops.  But there are many other parts of a property that an inspector may want to capture photos of which are not as well suited for a drone.  This could include the sides of buildings, underneath overhangs, or even inside a building.  Sure, a claims adjuster or a property inspector could snap some pictures using a mobile phone or tablet, but then they have to download and store them somewhere separate from the rest of their data.  Wouldn’t it be easier to have access to all of that information in one place?

With the addition of our new Mobile Photos feature, now our customers can capture those photos directly inside the Kespry App with the Kespry iPad and automatically view them alongside the rest of the drone-captured data.  They can even add annotations on the iPad or in Kespry Cloud, just like they can with aerial photos!


We believe these new features will be one more step towards a future where our customers can seamlessly bring all of their data together to answer the challenges of tomorrow.

These are just a few of the many new features we are working on here at Kespry.  As we look ahead, our primary focus is on continually improving safety, reliability and compliance.  This will become even more important as our customers start deploying larger fleets and utilize new types of data sensors in their workflows.  Keep an eye out for new data such as weather and airspace restrictions to ensure safe and compliant flights. In addition, we continue to push the envelope on hardware and software innovation to maximize system uptime so our customers can always get their data when and where they need it.
